In 1996 Shupe formed the Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband group with Nate Young, Josh Larsen, Craig Miner and Roger Archibald. The band’s signature sound combines bluegrass with country and rock and roll elements. After garnering a regional following in the late 90s and early 2000s, Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband earned a deal with Capitol Records. They released their album Dream Big through the label in 2005, the title track for which charted within the top forty on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband have since risen to become one of the most well-known acts from their native state. They have been likened to groups like the Dave Matthews Band and the Dixie Chicks, and maintain a devoted cult following.
