The Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra, or SCSO, was created as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The chorus is all volunteers and prospective vocalists must audition to join. The orchestra is a full professional orchestra, led by SCSO Founder and Music Director Dr. Donald Kendrick.

In the 1996-97 debut season of the SCSO, works performed by the choir and orchestra included Dvorak’s Requiem, “The Star-Spangled Banner”, and Dona Nobis Pacem by Vaughan Williams. Each year, the SCSO has become more ambitious. In 2003, the SCSO made its debut at world-famous Carnegie Hall, performing Carmina Burana by Orff. 

Enjoy a great show with Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra tickets. The SCSO toured China in 2006, along with guests from the CSUS Choral Music Program. Concerts were performed in multiple cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Xian and Jinan, which is the sister city of Sacramento. The SCSO was honored to be able to perform on the Great Wall. 

Other tours the SCSO has been on include a 2017 tour of the Baltics where the ensemble performed in Latvia, Finland and Estonia. The SCSO has performed internationally in countries such as France, Croatia, Slovenia and the United Kingdom.
