The blues trio the Scrapomatic was originally a blues duo with Paul Olsen and Mike Mattison that was created in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota in the mid-1990s. Mattison and Olsen met at a P-Funk concert in Minneapolis in 1994 and soon thereafter began to write music together.
The two then moved to New York City and began to do shows at local venues, soon developing their own audience. With the help of producer John Snyder, they released their self-titled debut in 2002, which was named by the Boston Globe one of the “Top Ten Hidden Gyms of 2003.”
See talented performers with Scrapomatic tickets. Mattison began to perform lead vocals with the Derek Trucks band and the duo would often serve as the opening act for the band. During this time, Scrapomatic was still recording, releasing the follow-up Alligator Love Cry in 2006. Besides performing with Scrapomatic, Olsen was working with other solo performers as a director and also writing music and has won two ASCAP songwriting awards.
Dave Yoke joined Scrapomatic in 2007. Yoke has played professionally since he was a teenager and can play multiple styles, from jazz to fingerpicking. In 2008, the now three-piece blues band released their first album with Yoke, Sidewalk Caesars.
