The Southeastern Conference (SEC) Baseball Tournament is a double-elimination conference tournament held at the end of the regular season to determine which team will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. Some of the greatest teams in all of college baseball compete in the SEC such as the University of South Carolina, Auburn University and Texas A&M University to name just three of this 14-team conference. The tournament is played at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Ala., and has a capacity of over 10,000 spectators.
Before the conference tournament, there were divisions in the SEC which were split into four, then the division winners would play a best of three series to determine the champion. Finally, in 1977, they changed to the top two teams in each division qualified. In 1987, the teams expanded to six with the divisions being eliminated. Now, the top twelve teams compete for the title.
