Shrek The Musical tickets were sold for the first time at the show’s tryout run in Seattle during August of 2008. The star-studded cast included theatre and dramatic actors Brian d’Arcy James and Sutton Foster as Shrek and Princess Fiona, respectively. The show continued on to Broadway later that same year, soon earning an impressive total of eight Tony Award nominations. The show ended up winning one Tony for “Best Costume Design” thanks to the work of designer Tim Hatley.

The musical’s time on Broadway came to an end in 2010, though the show began touring nationally that same year.  Since the first tour began, Shrek The Musical has been performed all across the United States as well as in London, the UK, Ireland and Australia. The musical adaptation of our ogre’s heroic story continues its journey into the hearts of audiences worldwide to this day.
