Deanna Belos was born in Chicago and learned to play the guitar at eleven years old. Belos heard the phrase “sincere engineer” used by Brendan Kelly in a 2008 interview and would use the phrase as the name of the solo project which would later become the band. While in college for dentistry, Belos released three solo acoustic EP’s on through Bandcamp. Her sound got the attention of promoter Toby Jeg. Jeg offered her a gig opening for Brendan Kelly, a performance that firmly established Belos in the Chicago punk music scene. After performing at The Fireside Bowl she was approached by Matt Jordan. Jordan offered to improve her songs using a full band. He brought Kyle Geib, Nick Arvanitis and Adam Beck on guitar, bass and vocals respectively. Funnily enough, the group was all already acquainted through mutual friends. They then put out Rhombithian, and with it found mainstream success.
