King (Stand By Me) and Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil (On Broadway). The pair had over 70 music chart hits and were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

These hits and more, 40 songs in all, are featured in Smokey Joe’s Cafe. The show is a “jukebox musical,” or musical revue, featuring all music and dancing and no dialog or underlying storyline. The original Broadway production opened in 1995, and Smokey Joe’s Cafe tickets were hard to come by during its run. The revue ran for 2,036 and became the longest-running musical revue in Broadway history. The original Broadway cast recording, Smokey Joe’s Café: The Songs of Leiber and Stoller, won the Grammy Award for Best Original Cast Recording in 1997.
