Sofia graduated from Colegio Vista Hermosa in Mexico City and then took a job in advertising. At the age of 28, she decided to become a stand-up comedienne and has since stated this was because of the bureaucracy and her distaste of the business side of advertising.
Since making the switch to comedy, her career has really taken off. She started to appear in the Spanish comedy-drama “Club de Cuervos” as the character Emilia in 2015. In 2016, she released her own Netflix stand-up special “Sofia Nino de Rivera: Expuesto.” She was the first Spanish-speaking woman to receive her own comedy special from the network. It was successful enough that another comedy special was released in 2018 with “Sofia Nino de Rivera: Selecion Natural.” She also appeared in the comedy “Recuperando a mi ex.” She has a series on YouTube Originals called “Sobrevivi.”
