When booking their first gig, they still didn’t have a band name. A bit of brainstorming and word association led to Starcrawler. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2018. That same year, they played in Austin, Texas, at the world’s biggest music showcase, South by Southwest. They ended up winning the Grulke Prize for Developing U.S. Act. The band toured through Europe and played “Love’s Gone Again” and “I Love LA” on the show Later With Jools Holland.

Although founding member Smith left the band, they carried on as a five-person group with the addition of Seth Carolina and Bill Cash.
