Dylan Mattingly is a composer from Berkeley, California. He was born in 1991 to a musical family that includes greats like Modest Altschuler, Leonard Slatkin and Eleanor Aller. As a young man, Mattingly studied at the Bard College & Conservatory of Music, where he was mentored by Kyle Gann, Joan Tower and George Tsontakis, among others. He later earned an advanced degree from the Yale School of Music.
After graduation, the composer became known for his minimalist style in the vein of artists like Philip Glass. He has received commissions from leading groups such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Berkeley Symphony and Cabrillo Festival Orchestra. Mattingly’s pieces have been performed by world-famous musicians such as Sarah Cahill and the Del Sol String Quartet.
