The Art Laboe Show is hosted by legendary disk jockey, songwriter, record producer and radio station owner Art Laboe. Laboe was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is believed to be the man that thought up the phrase “Oldies but Goodies.”
Laboe moved to Los Angeles while he was in high school. He graduated from high school at the age of 16 and then joined the navy, where he served at Naval Station Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay. He then attended San Mateo Junior College and then Stanford University, where he majored in radio engineering.

While there, Laboe conceived the notion of taking requests and dedications and playing them on air. His next radio job was broadcasting from KCMJ in Palm Springs.
He then worked at KPOP in Los Angeles, where he took requests and dedications and became extremely popular. He trademarked the term “Oldies but Goodies” and released an album by that name. He formed the record label Original Sound Records in 1959. Laboe still hosts two syndicated radio shows available in the Southwest called The Art Laboe Connection and the Art Laboe Show and periodically hosts concerts.
