The Browning was founded in 2005 in Kansas City, and despite a number of early lineup and style changes released their debut album Burn This World through Earache Records in 2011. In the years that followed, the band toured extensively with high-profile groups Shadows Fall, Static-X and Fear Factory. They gave a particularly celebrated appearance at Germany’s Full Force Festival before releasing their eagerly anticipated sophomore album Hypernova in 2013. 

The Browning have been praised for their innovative sound and versatility, as at turns they have produced hip hop, heavy metal and electronic dance music. Their signature sound combines deathcore with dubstep elements, and their lyrics often center around science-fiction themes. The Browning is also widely known for its “chugging” style of percussion which creates a trance-like electronic rhythm.
