Founding members Richard Araiza, Sean Redman, Modeste Cobian and London Guzman share a myriad of musical influences: The Clash, The Cramps, The Gun Club, The Birthday Party and Scott Walker. When Redman and Araiza met at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, they knew there was something special about their shared interests and passion for performing. After meeting Cobian and Guzman, The Buttertones (a name that parallels doo-wop groups such as The Cleftones) was birthed. Today, the band continues to bond over its shared interest in mid-twentieth-century music.

The Buttertones eight-track debut album was released as a cassette on a garage-pop label in 2013 and features the smash hits “Dionysus,” “NuSuave” and “Tequila Mockingbird.” Since the release of their debut, The Buttertones have gained popularity performing in Echo Park and Silver Lake, CA.
