They are also known as D-Plan and got their name from a line in the film Groundhog Day. In 1995, they dropped their first album “!” on the DeSoto label, featuring their post-hardcore sound on tracks like “Survey Says” and “The Small Stuff.” The act headed back to the studio to record their sophomore record, The Dismemberment Plan Is Terrified, in 1997 and dropped the single “The Ice of Boston,” yet their breakthrough came with the release of their third studio project, Emergency & I, in 1999.
It was praised by Pitchfork for heralding “a new era of rock and roll,” and the band performed live shows to support the record, including touring Europe with Pearl Jam in 2000. A year later, they released their third project, Change, featuring tracks like “Sentimental Man” and “Superpowers.” Despite their success, the act disbanded in 1993, reuniting several times afterward, beginning with a 2011 tour.
