Starting with a live performance at the 2015 SXSW conference Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry received rave reviews and eventually led to an audience with the Who’s Pete Townshend. The Hillbenders returned to their original roots with their fourth self-titled album released in 2019. With 9 original songs and covers of songs like MGMT’s “Kids”, The Hillbenders show they make great music regardless of who wrote it.
