The band was formed when Jeff Martin, Stuart Chatwood and Jeff Burrows played together at Cherry Beach Rehearsal Studios in Toronto, Ontario, first for a jam session and then decided to form a group. All three had previously performed together as teenagers in multiple groups growing up in Windsor, Ontario. The group’s name was inspired by the notorious hash sessions of Allan Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs.

Their first major-label release, Splendor Solis, was released that same year.  The group released eight albums and was active until 2005 when the band broke up due to creative differences. The band reformed in 2011 and has released multiple albums since.
