Watch every event up close with Towson gymnastics tickets. The Tigers represent Towson University, out of Towson, Md., in NCAA Division I women’s gymnastics. For women’s gymnastics, the school competes in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League, as a founding member school in 1995.
Towson first fielded a women’s gymnastics team in the 1967-68 season. The first coach for Towson was George McGinty. In their second year, the school became the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Division II national champions. McGinty would take them multiple times back to the AIAW championships.
Another significant head coach for the Tigers was Dick Filbert, who led the team from 1983 to 2010. In his tenure, the school made multiple NCAA appearances at Division II and Division I, won multiple conference championships, both in the EAGL and in the Eastern College Athletic Conference and led the team to an NIT Gymnastics championship in 1998-99.
