These green, white and gold Blazers play all their home games at the Mary Bowers Field. The program started in 2000 and established itself quickly in C-USA competition making the tournament one each of its first four seasons. The Blazers started another streak in 2009 of nine straight appearances. UAB earned five consecutive bids to the NCAA Tournament from 2010 to 2014. The 2013 team advanced to the Super Regional for the first time in program history.

In July of 2020, Joe Guthrie became the program's fourth coach and led the Blazers to their first Conference USA Championship appearance since 2016. UAB fell to Western Kentucky to end the run. UAB boasted a 31-19 record with a 15-5 mark in conference play. Sierra Frazier paced the Blazers with a .682 slugging percentage and .517 on-base percentage. Amy Woodham maintained a 2.41 ERA through 23 starts for UAB. Both were named first-team All-Conference USA along with teammates Jenna Olszewski and Jolie Readeaux.

UAB Blazers Softball Schedule

The NCAA Division I Softball season runs from February through June. Approximately 286 schools compete at the Division I level each year. Various conferences such as the SEC and the Pac-12 routinely field teams that are highly ranked throughout the country. Washington and Arizona State typically fight for the Pac-12 title each year. In the SEC, Alabama and Tennessee finish at the top of the standings year after year. Premier events like the Texas Invitational are hosted by the University of Texas each year.
