Watch exciting games with Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball tickets. The Milwaukee Panthers women's basketball team is a Division I program in the Horizon League. There, the Panthers see stiff competition from teams like the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay to Northern Kentucky University, at their home court of J. Martin Klotsche Center.
Although the basketball team’s roots reach back to 1896 at the Milwaukee State Normal School, the program was not granted varsity status until 1971. In 1982, the Panthers became affiliated with the NAIA and won three consecutive District 14 Championships. Future Milwaukee Athletics Hall of Fame inductees Carol Busche, Maureen Pitrof, Deb Schulman and Darla Wack played on the 1983-84 team.
Milwaukee moved to NCAA Division I in 1990 and the Panthers made their first postseason appearance in 2001. That year, the team set a program record for Division I wins and secured the team’s first-ever conference tournament championship. Milwaukee returned to the tournament in 2006 after a second conference tournament title but again fell in the first round.

In 2016, the Panthers started a streak of three consecutive postseason appearances which included a run to the WBI semifinals in 2017. Kyle Rechlicz, who was named Horizon League Coach of the Year in 2015-16, led the team in all three campaigns.
