WNBA Finals Basketball Tickets

See some of the best basketball players in the world square off by purchasing WNBA Finals tickets through TicketSmarter. The finals pit the best two teams in the league against one another in a best-of-five series to determine the WNBA Champion.

The championship series has taken place since the WNBA’s first season in 1997. The Houston Comets, led by superstar Cynthia Cooper, won the first four titles between 1997 and 2000. Lisa Leslie and the Los Angeles Sparks dethroned the Comets with back-to-back titles in 2001 and 2002.

After starting off as a three-game series, the WNBA Finals moved to a five-game format in 2005. The league uses a 2-2-1 schedule with the higher-seeded team hosting games 1, 2, and 5 while the lower-seeded team is home for games 3 and 4. Four of the five series between 2014 and 2019 went a full five games.

The league has become more competitive since its early seasons and no team has won back-to-back WNBA Finals. The Minnesota Lynx are now tied with the Comets for most championships with four each. Los Angeles, Seattle, Detroit, and Phoenix are hot on their heels with three championships for each franchise.
