He left the group in the summer of 1971 to join Korni Grupa, a band he was short-lived in before starting his solo career in 1972. The singer represented Yugoslavia in the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest and released two singles with a German record label. In 1975 he released his debut album, Ti i ja, officially kicking off the singer's long solo career. His second album, Ako prides blize, skyrocketed him to fame with major hits like “Glavo luda” and “Zagrli me”, quickly selling over 150,000 copies.
