Born to a Spanish father and English mother, Paloma Faith Blomfield (born on July 21, 1981) developed a love for the performing arts at an early age. After studying for a degree in contemporary dance, she moved on to Saint Martin's College of Art and Design, further fostering her many talents. In order to fund her course, Faith began working at a local pub where she fronted the manager's band, which soon became known as Paloma and the Penetrators.
A popular fixture on the London cabaret scene, Faith was spotted by a scout from Epic Records and, after turning down an opportunity to join retro jazz performer Amy Winehouse's band, Faith was soon up and running on her own. Time in the studio followed and her debut single “Stone Cold Sober” showed promise, slipping into 17th position in the UK Charts.
Her first album Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful? hit the shelves in 2009, peaking at Number 9 and heralding the soulful singer a star as it went gold. Further hits followed, as did a successful acting career with performances in St Trinian's and The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. In 2012, she released her second album Fall to Grace, which peaked at Number 2 in the UK Albums Chart.
Singles from the album included “Picking Up the Pieces,” “30 Minute Love Affair,” and a cover of INXS' “Never Tear Us Apart.” That same year, she was nominated for two BRIT Awards for Best Female Artist and Best British Album. Her third full-length, A Perfect Contradiction, hit the shelves in 2014 scoring her a Number 2 in the UK Charts. The single “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” reached Number 6 and she collaborated with drum n bass duo Sigma on their single “Changing.” In 2015, she became a judge and vocal coach on The Voice UK and set about working on her fourth LP.
The Architect was released in 2017 following the birth of her first child. The album topped the UK Charts, giving Faith her long-awaited first Number 1 and was followed by a Zeitgeist Edition containing some B-sides that were left out of the official release.
2020 found the singer collaborating with tropical house producer Jonas Blue on the single “Mistakes,” after which she revealed she was working on a new full-length. Preceded by the singles “Better Than This,” “Gold,” “Falling Down,” and “Last Night on Earth,” Infinite Things saw the light amidst the 2020 coronavirus pandemic and featured a star-studded lineup of songwriters such as Faouzia, Josef Salvat, MNEK, and Sigrid.
