Though the group only released four albums between 1981 and 2001, the impact of their music has been felt for generations. In addition to being credited as one of the first, most influential new-wave bands, The Go-Go’s have the distinction of being the first all-female group to write their own songs and play their own instruments to top the Billboard charts.
