She fled the marriage in 1976, and released her debut solo album Rough in 1978, with a rockier style. What's Love Got To Do With It?, Private Dancer (1984) and Simply The Best (1989) confirmed her iconic status as she went on to become a movie star in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, with her own life immortalized in the film What's Love Got To Do With It?
