It is the home field for the Lake County Captains, which is a Minor League Baseball team in the Midwest League in the High-A Central, since the start of the 2003 season. Classic Park broke ground in May 2002 and finished in April 2003. It cost $22 million to build and was designed by the DLR Group. It is owned by the City of Eastlake and is operated by the Lake County Captains Baseball Club. The field has a capacity of over 7,200 spectators and even includes a 4,000 square foot indoor batting facility along with two full-sized batting cages.
