The hall was designed by the firm KPMB Architects with input by Anne Minors Performance Consultants and Sound Space Design. The head architect was Marianne McKenna. The design includes two balconies located above the main orchestral level and a third technical balcony.
The signature feature of the hall is a backdrop for the chorus on the first balcony level formed by twisting oak strings, which are acoustically transparent. The oak strings then are suspended above the stage underneath the fixed acoustic canopy and then spread above the hall at the technical balcony level.
