It is the home field of the Columbia Lions football, la crosse and track & field teams, who compete in the Ivy League of the NCAA Division I FCS.
Wien Stadium broke ground in 1921 and was finished two years later as part of the Baker Athletic Complex which had wooden stands. It was purchased by George Fisher Baker for $700,000, which he bought for Columbia University. The stadium was revamped in 1984 as the old one was completely demolished. It was designed by the architectural group Dattner Architects with a construction cost of $7 million. Wien Stadium has a capacity of 17,000 spectators. The surface of the field has changed over the years going from grass to AstroTurf and now to FieldTurf. The track is made from Rekortan.
