The Leede Arena first opened in 1987 and was named in honor of the college’s top basketball player, Edward Leede. The arena was built on the site of the Davis Rink, originally Dartmouth College’s ice hockey venue.

That same year, the Leede Arena hosted the Blue Sky Classic, the country’s longest-running women’s basketball tournament.
