The stadium broke ground in July 2016 and opened three years later on August 10, 2019. It was designed by the architectural firm Keppie with a construction cost of 333 million pounds. The original name of the stadium was The Event Complex Aberdeen, or TECA, but was officially changed in May of 2019 to P&J Live with the sponsorship deal with SMG Europe and DC Thomson, who owns The Press and Journal along with Evening Express.
P&J Arena has a capacity of 10,264, with up to 15,000 in standing room. The arena offers a 50-person capacity show deck, along with a VIP lounge and 16 private suites, making it the largest indoor stadium in Scotland and the fifth largest in the United Kingdom.
