Panther Stadium at Blackshear Field broke ground in January of 2015 and was opened in time for the start of the football season on September 4, 2016, when the hometown Panthers faced up against the Texas Southern Tigers. It was designed by the architectural firm PBK Architects with a construction cost of $61 million. The stadium includes a new state-of-the-art Olympic-size track and a soccer field.
