Protective Stadium broke ground in 2019 and was designed by the architect group Populous. The cost was $175 million and it was completed in the fall of 2021, just in time for the start of the college football season. This state-of-the-art stadium has a capacity of 47,100 spectators and it reached that max on December 28, 2021, when Houston played Auburn in the Birmingham Bowl.
