Rhoads Stadium opened on February 23, 2000, when the Crimson Tide opened their season against the UAB Blazers. The home team easily strolled past the Blazers with a final score of 7-1, to start their season off right in the new stadium. The stadium was designed by Rosser International with a construction cost of $2.2 million. It was named after John and Ann Rhoads, who contributed much of their time to the University through their scholarships and programmatic support.
