It also played home to the Richmond Rhythm, a professional basketball team who played in the International Basketball League, for three seasons.
Stuart C. Siegel Center broke ground on April 23, 1996, and was finished three years later on May 1, 1999. The center was designed by the architectural firm Marcellus Wright Cox & Smith with a construction cost of $30.1 million. Stuart C. Siegel Center has a capacity of 7,637 spectators. The surface of the court is made of hardwood. The center is owned and operated by VCU.
