The Aggies played their first game in the new stadium on September 12, 1981, against their rival Winston Salem State University Rams to a jam-packed house of 23,000. The stadium has a capacity of 21,500 and an attendance record of 34,769 set in 2001 against the Florida A&M University Rattlers.
