It is the home stadium for the Gary Southshore RailCats, a minor league baseball team that competes in the American Association of Professional Baseball, an independent league that mainly operates in cities not served by MLB or its affiliates. The stadium also is the site of many high school and Little League games. Other events of note include the funeral of pop superstar and Gary native Michael Jackson on July 10, 2009, with over 6,000 mourners in attendance, including Jackson’s family. The stadium can accommodate 6,139 fans.
