Watch the best in baseball with MLB All Star Week tickets. The MLB All-Star Game was first played in Chicago, Ill., at Comiskey Park as part of the 1933 World’s Fair, and was supposed to be a one-time event. However, its success caused it to be repeated annually during the All-Star break which marks the midpoint of the 162-game season.
The league chooses the venue for the All-Star Game, alternating between American League and National League cities. Managers for each team represent the previous year’s pennant winners. The size of the team has grown over the years. In 1933, 18 players were selected. This grew to 20 in 1934 and has grown several times since then. As of 2018, 34 players are chosen for each game.
Be part of the Midsummer Classic with MLB All Star Week tickets. Over the years, more and more activities have become part of the event, including the Home Run Derby, which became a regular event in 1985. Another activity added was the All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game which features celebrities from film, television and pop culture playing alongside legends of the MLB.
