His music is a mix of Island reggae, jazz and soul. He got his big break on Youtube, after his video for ‘Don’t Say Goodbye’ went viral with over 10,000,000 plays. Soon after he was offered a record deal with Island Empire Records, home to Common Kings, Fiji and Tenelle.

His debut album ‘Prelude’ came out in 2013. He moved to Los Angeles, California in 2014 and released another EP titled ‘Lion Roar’ in 2016 which debuted on the Billboard Reggae charts. He was a headliner for the One Love Music Festival in New Zealand in 2016 with a captive audience of over 15,000. Sammy J tickets sold out on a tour across the country with Common Kings and co-headlined with Anuhea for a Mixed Feelings Fall 2017 tour. 

Sammy J has released several more albums, singles, and music videos such as ‘Acoustic Sessions’, ‘Sleepwalker’, ‘Sammy Johnson’, ‘For Your Love’ and ‘Since I Met You’. His song ‘Cool & Easy’ best describes his personality and presence and his thousands of devoted fans think the world of him.
