He was a high-profile hire with two MLS Cup titles as a player with the Houston Dynamo.

Miami FC repeated as NPSL champions in 2019 and added a NISA East Coast Championship later that year. The club then acquired the franchise rights from Ottowa City to participate in the USL Championship and began competition there during the 2020 season.
