The band consists of Bart Millard lead vocalist, percussionist Robby Shaffer, Nathan Cochran bassist and guitarist Michael Scheuczer and Barry Graul. The band started in 1994 and featured former members Jim Bryson on keyboards and Trent Austin on drums. MercyMe saw a large amount of success early in their career releasing six independent albums before signing with INO Records in 2001. The group's first mainstream recognition came by way of the single “I Can Only Imagine” which lead their debut album Almost There to achieve triple-platinum certification. Since then the group has released eight studio albums six of which have been certified gold.

Other successful albums in the band’s discography include The Generous Mr. Lovewell, The Christmas Sessions, and All That Is Within Me. With seven NO.1 songs on the Billboard Christian Songs chart and multiple Grammy Award nominations, MercyMe has achieved many accolades over the years.
