Celebrate the spirit of swing music with Ain’t Misbehavin’ tickets. Ain’t Misbehavin’ is a musical revue written by Richard Maltby Jr. and Murray Horwitz, with music by Luther Henderson. The musical takes its name from the hit song by acclaimed swing artist Fats Waller, and in many ways is a tribute to his life and work. Ain’t Misbehavin’ is set during the advent of swing music, and centers around now-famous venues like the Savoy Ballroom and the Cotton Club. Over the course of the musical, five characters present lively and boisterous songs meant to express Waller’s view that the purpose of life is to play.
Ain’t Misbehavin’ premiered in 1978 at the Manhattan Theatre Club, and starred the likes of Andre DeShields, Nell Carter and Irene Cara. After unprecedented positive reviews, including a rave review by The New York Times, Ain’t Misbehavin’ opened on Broadway in 1978 at the Longacre Theatre. The Broadway production ran for nearly five years and over 1,500 performances.
