The team is owned by the Houston Astros and also serves as the Astro’s Double-A minor league affiliate. The team was founded in 1968 as the Memphis Blues and relocated to Victoria, Texas; Jackson, Mississippi and Round Rock, Texas before settling in Corpus Christi in 2005. From 1968 to 1990, the team was affiliated with the New York Mets before being purchased by the Astros.

Upon moving to Corpus Christi in 2005, the Hooks joined the Texas League, winning their division and the league title in 2006, along with several first half and second half season championships in the following years. The team moved to the Double-A Central league in 2021 and are members of the league’s South Division. Several members of the Hooks roster have been called up to the Houston Astros including Alex Bregman, who helped lead the Astros to a World Series championship in 2017.
