While the success of the album was largely critical in nature, the single “I Would Die for You” became Arden’s initial ticket to radio airplay across her home country. Though Time for Mercy helped introduce Arden to audiences in Canada, it would be her second album, 1994’s Living Under June, which cemented her as a cultural mainstay.

Living Under June ensured Jann Arden tickets would be desired by audiences far outside Canada itself. The biggest hit from the record, “Insensitive,” was featured on the soundtrack of the Christian Bale film Bed of Roses. The single “Could I Be Your Girl” was also a Canadian radio hit and has remained a popular song across Canada to this day. In addition to music, Arden has won even more fans through her impressive acting career. Her work on the sitcom Workin’ Moms and fictionalized “autobiographical” show Jann have both earned Arden Canadian Screen Awards nominations. With twelve albums released between 1993 and 2018, a hefty amount of work on screen, and a continual honing of her gifts, Arden will clearly continue to shine for audiences for years to come.
