In Holtz’s second season, the Bulldogs ended up winning the Heat of Dallas Bowl 35-18 over Illinois’ Fighting Illini team. The following season saw the Bulldogs winning another major college bowl with a 47-28 victory in the New Orleans Bowl over Arkansas State.
