During that stretch, the Lobos went 29–12–1 for the best four-season record in school history, with Weeks eventually becoming the school's winningest football coach. It would take almost four decades before his record would be surpassed, with Rocky Long finally accomplishing this feat in September 2005. Hired in 1998, Long led the Lobos to 65 total wins during his tenure, as well as three consecutive post-season bowl games.
