Songwriter Jeffrey Linton Osborne, who was born March 9, 1948, in Providence, R.I., started his musical career in 1970 as the lead vocalist and drummer of the band L.T.D. In 1982, he released his first solo hit, “I Just Want to Be Your Friend,” for the major motion picture The Toy, along with his first album that same year. He has had multiple Top 40 hits, and several albums going Gold.

Evelyn Champagne King is remembered for her disco smash, “Shame” in 1977.
