Members of the band include frontman and lead vocalist Caleb Harper, who also handles songwriting and plays guitar, Ashton Hardman-Le Cornu on guitar, drummer Kieran Lama and bassist Peppa Lane, who replaced original bass player Amelia Murray in 2019. Lama is also the manager of the group.
The band was founded in 2016 in Perth’s sparse music scene by Harper and Lama, who had previously been in a band together as teenagers called Sicchino. The band was named after an outing with a mutual friend named Jane. Their debut single, “Still Running,” was released in 2017. The EP No Way to Treat an Animal was then released in November of that year.

In December of that year, it won the 2020 listeners poll on the government radio station Triple J as well as having four singles from the album on the Triple J Hottest 100, including “Booster Seat” coming in at number two.
