Since forming in Brighton England in 2017 Squid has been steadily moving onto the radars for post-punk fans. The band is composed of Ollie Judge (lead vocals, drums), Louis Borlase (guitar, bass guitar, vocals), Arthur Leadbetter (keyboards, strings, percussion), Laurie Nankivell (bass guitar, brass, percussion), and Anton Pearson (guitar, bass, vocals, percussion). With each band member covering such a vast range of instruments each Squid song sounds like its own fascinating addition as each member pushes their creativity. In the middle of complex instrumentals, Squid loves to get weird as they experiment with their lyrics and interludes. The band originated from Pearson, Nankivell, and Judge performing together in a soul and funk cover band. Squid has a wild eclectic style citing bands like This Heat and Neu! as influences.

There aren’t many things that can compare to Squid tickets as their music is near impossible to duplicate. After starting with their debut EP LINO in 2017, the band’s release of their second EP Town Centre in 2019 started to turn heads as they began touring around Europe. Songs like “The Cleaner” and “Houseplants” showed Squid could jam in a multitude of ways as they mixed electronic, funk, pop, and plenty of experimental. In 2021 the band released their first studio album Bright Green Field which was highly praised reaching an 89 on Metacritic which aggregates data from most mainstream publications.
