Take Me Out Tour Tickets
Experience the behind-the-scenes of a professional baseball team after your purchase of Take Me Out tickets. The original play was written by Richard Greenberg and premiered in London at the Donmar Warehouse in 2002. The story takes place in the 1970s inside of a professional baseball team’s locker room and is centered around the star player of the team, Derren Lemming. Lemming has led the team to two World Series victories in a row.
Although he is biracial, he has never experienced any sort of prejudice. That is until he comes out as gay to his teammates. One by one, his relationships with his teammates, friends, and coach drastically change. Told with a sense of humor, the play highlights themes of homophobia, class, masculinity, and racism. Anyone searching for an emotional dramatic sports play should look no further and consider purchasing Take Me Out tickets. Shortly after the production’s debut in London, it made its way to the U.S. as an off-Broadway show.
The play was first run at the Joseph Papp Public Theater in 2002, then had its Broadway Debut just one year later. Instantly, the theatrical production was a sensation among fans and critics. Take Me Out won a total of eight awards and eight nominations in 2003. Three of those awards won were Tony Awards, including one for Best Play. The production was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize as well. Eventually, it was adapted into a limited television series in 2021, starring Jesse Williams and directed by Scott Ellis.
