Founded in Oklahoma City in 1989, The Nixons spent a number of years refining their signature sound before releasing their debut EP Six through Dragon Street Records in 1992. The group rose to fame, however, through the release of the debut full-length album Foma through MCA Records in 1995. Foma produced several radio hits including “Sister,” “Passion” and “Happy Song.” The success saw the group begin touring alongside high-profile acts like KISS and Radiohead, and by the end of the year, Foma had charted on the Billboard 200.
The Nixons found further success with the release of their self-titled LP in 1997, which again charted on the Billboard 200. A rigorous touring schedule saw the band develop a devoted cult following, though they went on hiatus beginning in 2000. In 2017 however, The Nixons reunited. In 2020 they released their hotly anticipated EP Sonic Boom, and they continue to tour and record still today.
