Born in 1972, he began his professional career as a surfer after being offered a sponsorship from Billabong at the age of 14. At this time, he moved to Hawaii and met Jack Johnson, a fellow surfer who also had an interest in music. The two began playing guitar together, and while Johnson’s career took off quickly, Frankenreiter joined a small band called Sunchild and continued his surfing career at the same time.

In 2002, Johnson had started his own record company called Brushfire Records, and around this time Frankenreiter was looking to start a solo music career. The company released his self-titled debut album in 2004, which featured guests like Johnson along with G. Love and Koool G Murder of the Eels.

The performer has released eleven additional records since 2004 and has grown in popularity, often touring around the United States to hold concerts for his fans.
